Here's Miss "Military Man" from Shirley's 1936 film, The Poor Little Rich Girl! Made of celluloid, she's a combo doll/rattle with one movable arm, made to copy one of Shirley's famous publicity poses from the dance number at the end of the film. Major artistic license was taken in painting the uniform to create a colorful toy that stands a large 10" tall. She's marked "Made in Japan" and "OJC" in a diamond on her back. Her curls are painstakingly detailed in both front and back. Click the image at left for a close up of her impish expression; view an animation of her rehearsal dance, below (repeated from previous sites).
